Got acne? Don't do dairy.

I know... it's so yummy. But more and more evidence is accumulating that milk and dairy products are bad news: they significantly contribute to acne.

Epidemiological studies have suggested this for a while. A study published last year shows not only is more milk drinking associated with more acne, but skim milk drinking is even worse than whole milk drinking. (Btw, more fish-eating also means less acne.)

Another recent journal article studied athletes who developed acne from their whey protein (a milk protein) supplements. Then, when they eliminated the whey protein from their diet, the acne went away.

In another commentary on more articles published last year, the author states that acne is yet another disease of the western diet, in the club with obesity, diabetes and cancer. By the way, sugar is implicated as a cause of acne as well. And sugar increases skin picking too. Read more about the role of food in skin picking.
